Richards third fastest in the Park

Sprint Gas Racing’s Jason Richards has run-out third fastest in today’s V8 qualifying session at Melbourne’s Albert Park.
Richards hovered around the top 10 for most of the 30 minute session and jumped to first in the dying minutes only to be pushed down with seconds to go.

With tomorrow’s top 10 shootout still to come, Jason’s third today equals his best ever qualifying effort, at Winton last year.

“We didn’t have a great practice session this morning, but we made a few changes that made all the difference come qualifying,” Richards said.

“The car responded really well and it was good lap. I generally perform pretty well at the Grand Prix, I should have had pole last time but issues forced me to settle for seventh.

“There’s still a lot of work to do if I am to match or better by third at Winton, but the car is performing well so we’ll give it a red hot go. The best thing about today’s result is that it brings some excitement to the team.

“We’ve done a good job; hopefully we can continue to do well.”
