Davison puts in a strong finish at Barbagallo

Will Davison salvaged a fantastic result for Jim Beam Racing at Barbagallo Raceway today on his way to fifth place in the third and final race and sixth overall for round four of the V8 Supercar Championship in Perth.
After a disappointing qualifying session on Friday the young gun fought hard to improve his Championship standings and now sits seventh in the Championship after four rounds.

“We expect to qualify much higher than we did” said a frustrated Davison. “So to salvage a respectable result was a terrific effort given we were under the pump after qualifying.”

“We had a good race car but the Jim Beam Falcon was just a little off the pace this weekend, we were able to rectify a few issues but we will look ahead to Sandown and make some improvements and find some extra speed.”

Team mate Steve Johnson also fought valiantly throughout all three races, having qualified 24th on Friday he was eleventh overall for the round in the number 17 Jim Beam Falcon, a considerable improvement after being behind the eight ball from the outset.

Johnson had this to say after he weekend: “Unfortunately we just weren’t quite there this weekend, to fight back and work our way up the points after qualifying was great but it was a tough weekend”

Jim Beam Racing now looks ahead to a test day at Queensland Raceway prior to round five at Victoria’s Sandown Raceway in June.

Something that Johnson is looking forward to: “We have a test day coming up so we can work through a few things and I’m sure heading to Sandown we will have the Jim Beam Racing Falcon sorted.”
