Onwards and upwards at WOW Racing

Cameron McConville is looking toward the improvements to his WOW Holden Commodore ahead of round 5 of the V8 Supercars visit to Sandown this weekend.
Sandown will host three Sprint races this season as oppossed to the normal 500K endurance event that has taken place at this Victorian track for the past 5 years.

“For the first time since 2002 we’re at Sandown in sprint mode and in preparation for the revised format we ran our second test day for ‘08 last week at Winton.” Said team boss Brad Jones.

“Qualifying well takes on even more importance at this Round so we focused on that and improving our starts. Progress in these areas will be critical at Sandown. The weather forecast suggests showers and both boys have been strong in the wet this year so we’re also ready for that possibility.”

Andrew Jones in the Team BOC Holden has never experienced sprint racing at the track: “Sandown has a nostalgic feeling. I enjoyed my earlier years here as a spectator and now I love racing here.

“This circuit keeps you busy with plenty of braking and passing opportunities which produces some top racing. I’m looking forward to tackling my first Sandown sprint round and racing on a Monday!”

Meanwhile Cameron McConville in his WOW Racing Commodore is happy for the race format change: “I am stoked that I don’t have to share my race car at such a great track!

“Cheers to the Sandown sprint round idea. I get to sleep in my own bed for the whole race round.

“As for our result potential, we tested last week and continue to improve – it’s onwards and upwards.”
