FPR drivers dominate race one
Ford Performance Racing drivers Mark Winterbottom and Steven Richards dominated the opening race of the SkyCity Triple Crown at Hidden Valley.
Apart from during the compulsory pit stop period Mark Winterbottom lead the whole of race one. Team mate Steven Richards followed ‘Frosty’ home in second almost 4 seconds adrift.
Garth Tander was the best Holden home in third another 15 seconds behind.
Tailing Tander home were the Team Vodafone Ford duo of Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes, finishing just behind Tander in fourth and fifth, with Jason Richards right behind Lowndes in sixth.
Russell Ingall had another great finish taking seventh place, Will Davison and Rick Kelly had a close race with Davison held out to finish in eighth place, with James Courtney completing the top ten.
Shane van Gisbergen was the improver of the race, finishing in twelfth place after a poor 22nd grid position.
Meanwhile Mark Skaife had a another bad day at the office by finishing a lap down after flat-spotting a tyre early on in the race, recording a 25th place finish.
