Tander snatches race two from Ford

Garth Tander won the second race of the weekend as the FPR duo suffered problems while at the front of the race at Hidden Valley.
The win seemed to be going the way of one of the FPR drivers of Mark Winterbottom or Steven Richards, but Tander was there to capitalise on the problems that the Ford duo had experienced.

The Ford Performance Racing duo lead away from the lights with Tander giving chase. First casualties of the race were Lee Holdsworth, contacting with Todd Kelly in his Jack Daniels Commodore and Jamie Whincup being pushed wide by fellow Ford driver Will Davidson.

Leader Winterbottom made an early pit stop, only to be caught out by the traffic which allowed team mate Richards and Tander to move up ahead of him as they exited the pits.

As the race went on that was how it was expected to finish as the race progressed.

But with just 8 laps remaining the safety car was deployed to remove some debris, ironically a Holden flag, from the track, Richards fluffed the re-start allowing Tander to pounce as they came into turn one.

So with Tander taking the win followed by the FPR duo of Richards and Winterbottom second and third.

Fourth and fifth went to the Team Vodafone drivers Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup crossing line almost as one.

Holden filled the next four places for Russell Ingall, Jason Richards, Mark Skaife from 25th and Rick Kelly in ninth.

Will Davison completed the top ten in his Jim Beam Falcon.
