Countney wins his first V8 Supercar race

Jeld-Wen Motorsport’s James Courtney took his maiden V8 Supercar victory in race one of the City of Ipswich 400 at Queensland Raceway.
Courtney lead fellow Ford Falcon driver Mark Winterbottom into the first corner, the positions they were to keep until the flag with Winterbottom a mere .24 of a second behind.

Chasing the leading Fords in third place was Russell Ingall in his Supercheap Holden. Ingall continuing his performance from the previous round at Sandown.

Fourth and Fifth places went to the Holden Racing Team duo of Garth Tander and Mark Skaife, just a half a second apart.

The Jim Beam Falcon of Will Davison kept the hard charging Steven Richards in his FRP Falcon at bay for sixth and seventh places.

Rick Kelly in his HSV Holden was eighth, Team Vodafone driver Jamie Whincup ninth and Lee Holdsworth in his Gary Rogers Motorsport Commodore rounding out the top ten.

Team Vodafone’s Craig Lowndes had his luck run out on him as engine problems dropped him down from a seemingly secure third pace, finishing the race last, 5 laps adrift.
