Davidson takes race two for DJR

Will Davidson won the second race at he Winton Motor Raceway, giving the Dick Johnson Racing team a boost to their 2008 season campaign.
Mark Winterbotom made a masterful recovery from 21st place to finish in second with Garth Tander showing that the Holden is still competetive by taking third place.

Poleman from race one, Winterbottom played a masterful stroke by staying out as long as possible before taking his compolsory pit stop, launching him to second place behind Will Davidson.

Tander completed the podium by passing Jamie Whincup on lap 28, Whincup finishing just in front of his Team Vodafone team mate Craig Lowndes as the duo finished fourth and fifth.

Rick Kelley in his Jack Daniel’s Racing Commodore crossed the line in sixth place closely followed by the man that was penalised for hitting him in race one, fellow Holden racer Lee Holdsworth. That dropped him to eighteenth for the start of race two.

Jason Bright also moved up the order, twentiteth to eighth, almost ten seconds clear of the Jeld-Wen Motorsport Falcon of James Courtney who just held off the Autobarn Racing Team Commodore of Paul Dumbrell to complete the top ten.

An incident at the start of the race at the Esses involved several drivers.
Jason and Steven Richards clashed as they tried to take the same line through the Esses. Jason spinning in front of the pack, Most missed except Michael Caruso, who slammed into the side of him, ending both their races.

Meanwhile, as Steven Richards tried to recover he moved over on Russell Ingall, breaking Ingall’s steering, while in the mayhem behind, Skaife was hit from behind and slammed hard into the old pitwall on the inside of the exit of the turn.

Steven Richards managed to continue and looked set for a sixth place finish before he was forced to make a lengthy pitstop to replace a damaged rear halfshaft, returning to the track with a repaired car to finish the race nine laps down in last place.
