Winterbottom on pole at Winton

Mark Winterbottom continues his charge to take the 2008 V8 Supercars title with a dominant qualifying time at Winton Motor Raceway.
The Ford Performance Racing driver posted a time 4 tenths quicker than his fellow Ford Driver, Jamie Whincup in the Team Vodafone Falcon.

Jim Beam Racing’s Will Davison completed a Ford top three lock-out.

Best Holden was the Holden Racing Team’s Garth Tander, with surprise fellow Holden driver, Garry Rogers Motorsport’s Lee Holdsworth.

The second FPR Falcon of Steven Richards was the last Ford to make the top ten.

The rest of the top ten were made up by Holdens, Michael Caruso completed a great qualifying for the Garry Rogers team with the seventh-fastest time, followed by the HSV Dealer Team car of Rick Kelly, Shane Price also surprised, ninth, with Jason Richards completing the top ten.

With the top seventeen covered by 1 second, some of the regular front runners could only qaulify outside the top ten. Mark Skaife was twelfth, Craig Lowndes, fourteenth, last round runner-up man Russell Ingall only in fifteenth and new race winner from the last round, James Courtney in seventeenth.
