Paul Radisich injuries revealed

In a statement from Paul Radisich today, the full extent of his injuries he sustained in the crash at Bathurst were revealed.
The double Supertouring World Cup champion left the track at high speed during qualifying for the Great Race at the McPhillamy Park section of the track after his throttle stuck open and hit a concrete wall almost head-on at high speed.

His list of injuries include:

• Reopened the fractured sternum from his 2006 accident

• Fractured right ankle which has already had been operated on and plates have been inserted

• Fractured left foot which requires surgery when he returns to Melbourne

• Fractured vertebrae in lumbar region

• Fractured vertebrae in thoracic region

• Cracked ribs

• Bruised lungs

While his injuries are not life threatening they are extensive and will require a long period of acute care. Paul and his wife, Patricia now need to concentrate on his recovery and rehabilitation from the injuries which are more extensive than first thought, and have requested some privacy to deal with the next six to eight weeks.

Paul is hoping to return to Melbourne soon to be nearer to his family.

All at TouringCarTimes wish him a speedy recovery.
