With rumour and speculation currently doing the rounds as the V8 Supercar driver silly season hits full swing it is clear Jim Beam Racing duo Will Davison and Steve Johnson are looking to remind everyone that the 2008 Championship still has four rounds remaining.

The Gold Coast will come alive this weekend as the Indy party hits town, with drivers to take to the 4.47km street circuit as fans flock to the sunshine state.

“I think many people are losing focus on 2008 and making a bit much of driver contracts and movements when there are still four rounds of the 2008 Championship remaining,” said Davison.

“Jim Beam Racing has had a fantastic season, we have two cars inside the top ten and I’m really happy being fifth in the current standings and looking to maximise our potential with four rounds still to go this year.

“We are at our home round this weekend and really want to be back on the podium so that is what I’m focussed on; the talk of who is driving where is irrelevant to me with so long left in this Championship, that will sort itself out eventually,” said Davison.

Johnson turned his season around with solid endurance performances that catapulted him into the top ten and is looking forward to racing in his home state.

“I’m really pumped for these last four rounds; we had some very good performances at the back end of last season so we are looking for a repeat of that,” he said

“Indy is an unforgiving circuit but I really enjoy the challenge of racing on a street track,” said Johnson.

“It’s one of the best events on our calendar, the sun shines, the atmosphere is electric and we are on our home streets so you can’t ask for much more.

“The track is quite tricky to master and you simply can’t afford to make the mistakes you might get away with at other circuits.”

Johnson mirrored Davison’s comments regarding 2009 speculation.

“That’s all it is really is speculation, there has been absolutely no official statement from many of the drivers and the teams so I can’t see what all the fuss is about at this stage.
