No holiday for Bright
Following a strong run at Bathurst, the Fujitsu Racing team head to one of the toughest sprint races of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, the Coffee Club V8 Supercar Challenge to be contested as a part of the Nikon Indy 300 Event on the Gold Coast over October 23-26.
Along with Adam Macrow, Jason Bright brought the Fujitsu Racing Ford home in ninth place at Bathurst and he is confident of an even better performance on the streets of Surfers Paradise.
“Bathurst was a very good run and we believe we have the package for another strong performance at Indy,” said Bright.
“We have a very good handle on the chassis and we have made some gains in the engine department. Plus we have always had a good brake package which is vital at Surfers Paradise.
“Indy is tough, as I found out last year when an incident in practice put us on the back-foot before an accident in the opening race ended our weekend early.
“Our Bathurst performance has lifted everyone on the team and it would be great to pay-back all that hard work with a top-five run.
“The key is to keep it clean and steer well away from all those concrete walls!”
A strong preparation for the Gold Coast event is a key to success according to Fujitsu Racing Chief Engineer Geoff Slater.
“Our strong run at Bathurst, including no damage has been a bonus heading into the Gold Coast event,” said Slater.
“Despite having had the car in the workshop for only a handful of days, we have been able to give the car a full onceover and actually have it ready early for the trip from Melbourne to the Gold Coast.
“This has meant everyone on the team has been fully rested, plus once the car leaves they will get a couple more days to focus on the race ahead.
“The enthusiasm amongst the whole team is very infectious right now and I’m sure we can show further improvement at the Indy event.”
