Difficult weekend for BJR

The 2008 V8 Supercar Championship season wound up in difficult circumstances today for both Team BOC and WOW Racing. Thankfully teams were greeted by lower temperatures this morning then the predicted showers arrived between races 2 and 3. Andrew was squeezed off the road in Race 2 and found himself in the middle of an incident in Race 3.

Bradley Jones said, Co-Owner: “Race 2 was another tough race but I’m proud of my guys who recorded a record pitstop, the fastest we’ve ever seen.

“Before the next race the Team will adjust the car closer to yesterday’s set-up where the speed was consistenly good. We must find grip to move ahead in Race 3.”

“Race 3 was a disappointing end to a tough season. We’ve got some deep thinking to apply to our problems over the off-season but BJR will always prevail and I’m sure we’re in for a strong 2009.”

“Once Cameron McConville was given his 10 second penalty for jumping the start we were on the back foot and couldn’t recover.”

Andrew Jones said: “I had another good start in race 2, I could have made up a spot and passed Marcus Marshall on turn 2 but played fair which didn’t get me anywhere because on T3 I was pushed off into the dirt by D’Alberto. We did regain a spot after our awesome pitstop.”

“As for race 3 I had another ripper start, it’s the first time this year I’ve had 3 from 3 great starts. I was caught up in the Lap 1 incident and broke something in the rear. I nursed the car for the next 24 laps but eventually I parked it. I want to thank the entire team for their hard work and support through this tough season.”

Cameron McConville’s weekend didn’t fair much better: “Race 2 was a shocking race, the car struggled for rear grip from the start and I was squeezed off by Coulthard dropping me back 8 spots. It was battle from start to finish and 2 flat-spotted tyres early on in race added to the drama.”

“Jack Perkins spun in front of me in race 3 and I ran into him in first corner of Lap 1. I was also given a 10 second penalty for a rolling start. It was an ordinary way to finish the season but I am thankful to the Team for their non stop racing passion and commitment.”
