Richards/McConville tops qualifying

Jason Richards and Cameron McConville in the Holden Holden Commodore VE of Team BOC topped the qualifying session ahead of the 2009 Bathurst 1000.
“I think this track does suit my driving style,” said Richards to the official championship site.

The Team BOC pair was only eight hundredths of a second faster than the Holden of Tander and Davidson around the 6.2 kilometer long Mount Panorama Circuit.

There were three Holden Commodore teams in the top three with the Holdsworth/Caruso car in third, two tenths behind the fastest time.

The red flags were brought out during the session after Warren Luff going off at the Murray’s Corner.

“I was just trying a bit too hard under brakes and locked the rears and skidded and went through the sand, (and I) just touched the wall very lightly,” Luff said.

The Holden Commodore of World Touring Car Championship driver Andy Priaulx qualfied 25th and had to end the session in the tyre wall.

This qualifying session leads up to the top ten shootout which decides the grid for the race on sunday.
