Winterbottom takes last second pole

Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom has taken pole position for the second race at Abu Dhabi, in he dying moments of the session – denying reigning champion and yesterday’s pole sitter & race winner, Jamie Whincup.

The pole was a surprise to Mark, who spent the last part of the session waiting for a brake issue to be resolved.
“I had a brake issue in that session… they changed it and said go out and do a lap and see how you go”

Winterbottom’s aiming not to repeat the startline error he made yesterday, which earned him a penalty:
“Hopefully I can line up properly on the grid and not give these guys a 10 second start, because you can’t afford to give these guys a 10th (of a second) start”.
