Triple Win for Triple Eight

Team Vodafone’s Jamie Whincup has won his third straight race, ahead of Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom in Bahrain.

Team mate Craig Lowndes rounds out the top three.

“These guys (FPR) mirrored us in the pits but we brought it home strong,” said Whincup.

“The tyre degradation here is massive, the tyres go off like you wouldn’t believe.

The race was almost interrupted on lap one as a sponsors advertising board came loose and fell onto the track. It was removed before the cars came around again and so was removed without a safety car intervention.

Jamie now leads the championship with 450 points going in to tomorrow’s race, with Mark Winterbottom in second with 405. Craig Lowndes is third with 378, and Stone Brothers Racing’s Shane Van Gisbergen is fourth overall with 342.
