Whincup wins again, that’s four

Jamie Whincup has taken his fourth win at Bahrain, and now has 600 points as the series completes it’s off shore jaunt.

Mark Winterbottom secured second place, and so is still within attacking distance in the standings.

Whincup didn’t even make the most of his pole position, slipping to fifth at the start of the race, but soon worked his way up to his customary position.

Shane van Gisbergen continued a run of strong runnings, with SBR saying this morning they very much expect the New Zealander to be able to take wins this season. Shane finished third and is also third in the overall standings.

Holden Racing Team’s fourth place for Garth Tander yesterday wasn’t the start of a change in fortunes however, Garth was caught up in an early tangle and finished one lap down. Team mate Will Davison managed to finish sixth, and so is the top HRT/Walkinshaw Performance racer in the standings in 13th.

The next race is in two weeks at the Adelaide circuit.
