Tander writes off 2010 title chances after poor start

2007 V8 Supercars champion Garth Tander has written off his chances of winning a second title with the Holden Racing Team this season, after a disastrous start to the season at Abu Dhabi & Bahrain.

Tander is currently 22nd in the standings with less than a quarter of the points of Jamie Whincup.

After technical issues marred Abu Dhabi, the HRT team appeared to have found some form in Bahrain, but despite a strong finish in race three, Garth was caught up in a collision in race four of the championship with Ford Performance Racing’s Steven Richards.

“The team didn’t get the result it deserved and it’s hurt us in the championship, so we forget about that now,” Tander said.

“I’ve never won a race in Adelaide, so the focus is to go there and win both races.

“We’ve got two marquee events coming up in Adelaide and Hamilton so we’ll go on an event-by-event basis and go for the wins.”
