Ford hit with triple disqualification
Ford have taken a double hit after the Hamilton race, with both FPR’s and Johnson’s fifth placed Falcon being disqualified for technical irregularities.
Ford Performance Racing drivers, Mark Winterbottom & Steven Richards were originally classified 14th and 15th, and will now lost the points for that finish.
As a result, Winterbottom drops back behind James Courtney in the drivers standings, effectively extending Whincup’s championship lead to over 200 points.
FPR’s error was minor in nature, with the brake rotors fitted to the incorrect sides of both Winterbottom’s and Richard’s Ford Falcon FG race cars.
A similar issue effected Jim Beam Racing, with Steven Johnson finishing as the highest Ford in fifth, he now loses his best finish this season.
