C360R boss expecting close season
Compass 360 Racing team boss expects a close season as the team readies it’s three car assault on the touring category.
“We’ll be bringing three strong Hondas for the Touring Championship, but will face good competition from the three MINIs as well as a VW of PJ Groenke.” said Karl Thomson to TouringCarTimes.
“It sounds like a few other Hondas will be in the wings, so Touring promises to feature strong battles every race.”
Karl will also be driving for the team, alongside drivers Anthony Rapone & Andrew Danyliw.
“It’ll be fun to get behind the wheel again. With four cars and eight drivers, it became clear that my responsibilities to our Grand-Am program wouldn’t include driving this year, and I think our results show the wisdom of this decision. We’ve had two different cars win and we’ve been on the podium every race so far. We’re leading the championship, and have a second car in third, with another car in seventh”.
C360R will continue to provide technical support to two teams in the Super Touring category – Audette Racing, with their Acura RSX, as well as last year’s Civic using champions Lombardi Racing.
Karl expects Lombardi to be strong again with it’s driver line-up of Nick Wittmer, Alex Healy and Benjamin Distaulo – but expects the BMW trio of Paul Dalla Lana, David Bensadoun & Greg Pootmans, as well as the new Pontiac Solstice’s of GT Racing to be right up the front too.
The first round of the season takes place on the May 22nd/23rd weekend at Mosport.
