SBR endurance line-up complete as Perkins joins Slade
Stone Brothers Racing’s line-up for the Phillip Island & Bathurst endurance events is now complete, after Jack Perkins has been confirmed to join Tim Slade.
Perkins will join Tim Slade in the #47 Wilson Security Racing Ford Falcon.
“It’s great to be back in the main game for the enduros with a team with the record of Stone Brothers. It’s going to be good to pair up with Tim, being that he is a good mate of mine and we are similar height and size should make it pretty good”, said Jack Perkins.
“I know my role is to bring the car back to Tim and try and secure a good result for the team and sponsors. I think our chances are pretty good really, we know what we both want from the car so I think if we just go about our business a bit quietly we should have a good run.”
This will be the first time that the Perkins family name will have raced in a Ford, as Jack has always competed in Holden machinery in either his fathers team, or at Kelly Racing last year.
Jack’s father Larry, also a Holden stalwart – drove exclusively in Holden cars for over 22 years in the championship.
Already confirmed for the other two SBR cars are New Zealander John McIntyre for the #9 SP Tools car alongside Shane van Gisbergen. This is the second time the two have been paired up, previously at Team Kiwi Racing in 2007.
Alex Davison will be joined by endurance racing specialist, Le Mans winner David Brabham in the #4 Irwin Tools car. David is also the international star announced to drive for SBR at the SuperCarnivale event at Surfers Paradise.
