Hour 3 Update: Volvo leads at quarter distance

Eric van de Poele currently leads the 12 Hours of Spa, from Jeffrey Van Hooydonk in the Kia Pro_Cee’d, as troubles beset the Renault Mégane.

The Volvo is slightly off sequence however, as the S60 pitted just after a crash a Raidillon took out the STR SEAT León Supercopa of Australian driver Clint Harvey. Vincent Radermecker, then driving the car, took the opportunity for an early stop.

At the start, Koen Wauters made quick work of the pole sitting KS Motorsport BMW, and took the lead – but was passed just before the lap 6 safety car period by the fast charging Frédéric Bouvy.

As we passed the two and a half hour mark, problems beset the Renault, then at the hands of François Verbist – and the No.17 Chad Racing Kia Pro_Cee’d, now taken over by Jan Haylen assumed the lead, but pitted just before the three hour mark.

This gave the lead to Eric van de Poele’s Volvo S60 – driving the second proper stint in the car, with WTCC driver Rob Huff yet to drive the car in the race.
