Whincup and Owen take pole position

Jamie Whincup and his co-driver Steve Owen have taken pole position for the endurance race at Phillip Island tommorrow.

The drivers from Team Vodafone took the pole after the two qualifying races. Even though Rick Kelly won the second race and Jamie Whincup only finished 14th, the Whincup/Owens combination gathered 71 points.

Second and third on the grid are taken by Rick & Owen Kelly and James Courtney & Warren Luff. Both combinations secured 62 points.

Jamie Whincup, the reigning champion, is happy to have Steve Owen as his co-driver. “At the moment we have a quick car; I think Steve is happier with the car than I am. I feel like I am the B driver at the moment,” he said.
