Koen Wauters Kia on pole for race one

Koen Wauters has taken pole position for race one for Kia at Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian Touring Car Series, as the championship resumes after a two month break.

Koen Wauters claimed pole position with a record time of 2:25.597 in the car he’ll share with brother Kris during the race.

Eric van de Poele put the Volvo S60 in second place, whilst Frédéric Bouvy qualified third in the Delahaye Racing Renault Mégane.

Kia’s also occupied fourth and fifth places, with Philippe Steveny in fourth, and former BTCC driver Tom Ferrier in fifth in his BTCS debut this season.

The Ferrier car, which he shares with Iain Dockerill is now running a new 3.4 litre AER engine, whilst the pole sitting Pro_Cee’d of Wauters and the Steveny/Moonens car is still running with Mountune engines.
