David Pinkney’s season ends on a low-note
David Pinkney’s 2010 ended on a low-note, as the Harpenden racer was forced to miss the final three races at Brands Hatch. A terminal mechanical issue during the opening free practice session on Saturday morning sidelined the Vauxhall Vectra driver, after he slowed to a halt exiting Druids.
Earlier in the season Pinkney had picked up an eighth at Brands Hatch, his joint best result of the season, but the 58-year-old had no chance to repeat the performance.
“Clearly that wasn’t the way we hoped the season would end, but we had a mechanical problem which we couldn’t resolve at the circuit,” said Pinkney Motorsport Team Manager Andrew Dean said. “It’s difficult to have to watch on from the sidelines, but these things happen in motorsport.
“We want to thank Ross, Chris and all the boys for the work they have done during the season, and also thank our sponsors and fans for the support we have had throughout the year.
“Now we will evaluate the best way forwards for both David and the Pinkney Motorsport team during the winter before we make an announcement on our plans for 2011, but there are some very interesting options which we need to explore.”
Eighth place in the opening race at Thruxton and race two at Brands Hatch in May were Pinkney’s best results. Unfortunately for the man driving one of the NGTC Vectras, he also recorded eleven retirements and four Did Not Starts, ending the season with twelve points.
