Tom Ingram with little to say after luckless Croft weekend

Tom Ingram admitted he was ‘lost for words’ after enduring yet another weekend of frustration in the British Touring Car Championship.

Taking centre stage at Croft for the eighth meeting of the campaign, the two-time champion saw his run of bad luck continue in dramatic fashion as he failed to finish two of the three races.

Race day began with Ingram producing a sublime charge to first place in what were challenging conditions, however a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits meant that he was ultimately classified in third.

From there, things went from bad to worse for the Hyundai driver as contact with Dan Cammish in race two while on the hard tyre sent him careering into the tyre barrier and out of the race.

Ingram was then a passenger as his car left the circuit at high-speed when heading into the Jim Clark Esses following contact with Charles Rainford in race three; again resulting in a non-finish.

It now means that the EXCELR8 racer heads into the penultimate event of the season at Silverstone sitting third in the standings, eight points behind Cammish.

“If I’m being totally honest, this is a weekend where I really don’t know what to say at the end of it,” reflected Ingram.

“Clearly, we had a quick car as we showed by winning the first race on the road but in race two and race three, we’ve just been on the wrong side of things that we had no control over, which ended up with us off the road and forced into retirement.

“As a team, we’ve obviously scored a podium in every race this weekend which is the positive for us to take away, but at the same time, we know that it could – and should – have been a lot more.”
