Besnard dropped for Ritter at Gold Coast

David Besnard has been dropped from GRM’s line-up next weekend at Surfers Paradise, with Greg Ritter replacing him at the team after Besnard copped a drive through penalty at Bathurst destroying the team’s chance of winning the race.

GRM lead the Bathurst 1000km for the most part, before a late pass by Craig Lowndes in the Triple Eight Commodore demoted the No.33 car to second place before the final round of driver changes.

Unfortunately, any chance for the GRM car to battle back for the win was lost as Besnard picked up a drive through penalty for speeding in the pitlane when handing over the GRM Holden Commodore to Holdsworth at the conclusion of his run.

The team never recovered from the error, and went on to finish in seventh place, whilst Triple Eight took a 1-2 at the event.

Lee Holdsworth has now confirmed that Greg Ritter, who partnered team-mate Michael Caruso at Phillip Island and Bathurst, will join him at the Gold Coast round, whilst Porsche sports car driver Patrick Long will partner Caruso at the event.
