Whincup on pole for race two at Abu Dhabi

Jamie Whincup has taken pole position for race two at Abu Dhabi, replicating a 1-2 for Triple Eight from yesterday’s race.

Lowndes had taken pole on Friday, but this time it was Whincup’s turn, setting a lap of 1:56…. early in the session to claim pole position for this afternoon’s race.

Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom will line-up third, with Dick Johnson Racing’s Steven Johnson in fourth place.

James Courtney, who struggled in qualifying on Friday and was served with a points penalty this morning for the incident with Jason Bargwanna in the race, has bounced back with fifth position on the grid in the Holden Racing Team entry.
