Bamboo Engineering set for BTCC return
Bamboo Engineering look set to return to the BTCC with Harry Vaulkhard and the Chevrolet Lacettis they campaigned in the World Touring Car Championship in 2010.
The Silverstone based squad switched to the World Touring Car Championship for 2010, remaining in the title hunt until the very end with Darryl O’Young, and now are looking to run a two car programme back in the BTCC.
Bamboo are close to finalising a deal with Harry Vaulkhard to race in the BTCC after his partial season out in the WTCC last year.
“We like the idea as to where it’s going, and Bamboo’s definitely got the potential to build NGTC car in the future, so it’d be worth looking at the year as a toe in the water exercise,” said Vaulkhard to TouringCarTimes.
“We’re going to run it in full S2000 spec, but to be honest it’d pretty competitive anyway because it’s quick in a straight line. We’ve learnt a big chunk about the car in the last year so I’m sure we’ll be a lot quicker than we were the last time we were in British touring cars”
Bamboo are now the third team to commit to the championship with a full S2000 specification car after RML & West Surrey Racing, the two other BTCC teams which also competed in the World Touring Car Championship in 2010.
“The car’s a proven car, so as long as everything’s equalised like it’s supposed to be between NGTC and S2000 then I don’t see why it shouldn’t be a good front running car…if the Cruze is able to compete at the front, then I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to” concluded Vaulkhard.
