Will Davison takes his first pole for FPR
Will Davison has taken his fourth career pole and his first for Ford Performance Racing for Race 4 at Adelaide.
The FPR driver set a lap of 1:21.978 just over half way into the 20 minute qualifying session, which was good enough to hold off Triple Eight driver Jamie Whincup and allow Davison to claim the first pole of the season for Ford.
FPR team-mate Mark Winterbottom qualified third securing a strong qualifying result for the Victoria-based team.
2010 champion James Courtney qualified in fifth position for the Holden Racing Team. Courtney crashed out on lap 20 in yesterday’s race and will be aiming to score as many points as possible today to put his championship challenge back on track.
Courtney’s HRT team-mate and yesterday’s race winner Garth Tander struggled in qualifying, locking up several times in the session and will start 13th.
Just 27 cars will take the start of Race 4 after Steve Owen’s Holden Commodore was judged irreparable for today’s race.
