Volvo and Renault share poles at Zolder

The Volvo S60 of Vincent Radermecker and Eric van de Poele will start this afternoon’s race from pole position, but the reigning champions Delahaye Racing outperformed the Volvo to claim pole for Sunday’s race.

The Volvo S60 Racing team will share the front-row in race one with reigning champion Frédéric Bouvy, with the sister Megane of Stéphané Lemerat and Edouard Mondron leading row two next to the Jaguar XF of Jérome Thiry and Werner Moonens.

The T3 class cars ran close in qualifying to the top level silhouettes, with the S2000 SEAT Leon of Pierre-Yves Rosoux and Pierre Piron qualifying sixth overall, one place ahead of rival W Racing Team, with Koen Wauters and Ronnie Latinne’s Volkswagen Scirocco seventh on the grid and second in class.

For the second race, Bouvy secured pole with a lap of 1:35.490, less than a tenth of a second faster than the Volvo’s best lap in Q2, but two seconds clear of the lap set in Q1.

The Kia Pro_Cee’d of Philippe Steveny and Didier De Radigues qualified third for race two, which takes place on Sunday afternoon.
