Volvo take two poles at Dijon-Prenois
Volvo S60 Racing has qualified on pole position for both races of the second race meeting of the 2011 Belgian Touring Car Series at Dijon-Prenois, denying the Delahaye Racing No.2 Mégane of Lémeret and Mondron, as well as Jérôme Thiry’s Jaguar XF first on the grid.
The Volvo, which retired from both races at the season opening round at Zolder three weeks ago, will start first thanks to two great qualifying laps from drivers Eric van de Poele and Vincent Radermecker.
Jérôme Thiry & Werner Moonens will start second for race one in the Motorsport International Jaguar XF in the Silhouette 1 class, and third in race two.
Delahaye Racing pair of Stéphane Lémeret and Edouard Mondron will start third in race one and second in race three.
The Volvo’s best lap of 1:20.653 was recorded in the first qualifying session, and was eight tenths faster than the second placed Jaguar. Mondron and Lémeret’s Mégane was much closer in the second session, just two-tenths of a second down.
Championship leading pair Philippe Steveny and Didier De Radigues Kia Pro_Cee’d will start fifth in race one and third for race two.
The SEAT León of Pierre Piron and Pierre-Yves Rosoux, which was heavily damaged in race one at Zolder, has taken the Touring 3 class pole position for both races.
