Renault 1-2 in qualifying for 12 Hours of Spa
Delahaye Racing have claimed the front-row of the grid for the Belgian Touring Car Series 12 Hours of Spa, with the No.2 car on pole with a lap time of 2:26.321.
With rain feared in the afternoon session, the majority of the teams set their best times in the first qualifying session.
Stéphane Lémeret claimed pole for Delahaye Racing in the No.2 Renault Mégane which he shares with Eduoard Mondron and Julien Schroyen this weekend. Reigning champion Frédéroc Bouvy will start second in the No.1 car along with Christian Kelders and Geoffroy Horion.
The Jaguar XF of Motorsport International qualified third, piloted by Jérôme Thiry along with Bert Redant and Werner Moonens. Volvo S60 Racing was fourth with Vincent Radermecker, Eric van de Poele & Nico Verdonck.
In the T3 class, pole position went to the Mazda3 of Van Herck Racing. Werner Van Herck will be joined this weekend by Joel Schuybroek and Ricardo Van De Ende in the purple T3 class car. The Mazda took pole in T3 in the second qualifying session from the W Racing Team’s VW Scirocco, which caught fire after the chequered flag was thrown and the team are busy repairing the car for the race.
Also a casualty in the qualifying session was the S2 class pole sitting Gomez Competition GC10 of Armand Fumal, which crashed out heavily at Radillon.
In the T3S (SEAT Supercopa) class, pole went to Strategic Transport Racing’s Malcolm Niall, Clint Harvey, Brett Niall and Mark Pillati, 22nd overall.
The specialist T4 class pole went to the Australian team Mal Rose Racing, with their Holden Commodore, 13th overall.
The race will start at 14:30 CET, and of course finish at 2:30 CET on Sunday 19th June.
