Power, Briscoe & Said join GC600 line-up

Australian stars Will Power & Ryan Briscoe will return to compete in the Gold Coast 600 this year, as well as American driver Boris Said.

Said last competed in the V8 Supercars series back in 2008 when he competed at Bathurst with Paul Morris Motorsport, which is the team with which he will race with in October at Surfers Paradise for the first time.

Said will team up with Steve Owen in the VIP Pet Foods sponsored No.49 Holden Commodore.

Australian drivers Will Power and Ryan Briscoe will also return, team-mates at Penske Racing in the IndyCar series by day, for Gold Coast they will compete for rival factory squads Ford Performance Racing and the Holden Racing Team respectively.

Last year Power drove the No.6 Ford Falcon along with Steven Richards, but this year moves across to No.5 to partner Mark Winterbottom.

“I won a few poles in the IndyCars on the streets of Surfers Paradise, but could not get a race win so I certainly have some unfinished business,” said Power.

“The Gold Coast is always a fantastic event. I love to come home to Queensland and have the opportunity to race at an event that has so much energy.”

“The whole city shows up for this event and they are joined by fans from all over the world.”

It’s not yet confirmed whether Briscoe will partner Garth Tander or reigning champion James Courtney at HRT.

“The Gold Coast really is one of the best places race. The people, the beach, the sun and a great street track make for a great event with an amazing atmosphere – not to mention the Sunday night party!”

“Team Penske has been supportive of my Aussie team-mate Will Power and myself being available to do this event again and we have to thank everyone involved for that.”
