Giovanardi confirmed for Gold Coast 600 return

Newly crowned European Touring Car Cup holder Fabrizio Giovanardi will return to the Gold Coast in October, along with other recently confirmed drivers Oliver Gavin and Scott Dixon.

The Italian will race around the streets of Surfers Paradise where he made a strong debut at the circuit last year, where he helped to take Karl Reindler in the Britek Holden Commodore to its best finishing position of the season.

Giovanardi will again return to the Britek/Brad Jones Racing stable where he will pair with Reindler again or Jason Bargwanna at the team. The Italian also has past experience in the championship, driving at the famous Bathurst race in 2008 for Triple Eight Race Engineering, shortly after he claimed his second British Touring Car Championship title.

Giovanardi joins a list of other top names confirmed this week, alongside British sportscar driver Oliver Gavin, who will be joining Greg Murphy in the Kelly Racing Holden.

Also confirmed over the weekend was former IndyCar champion Scott Dixon. The New Zealander will form an all New Zealand alliance at Stone Brothers Racing where he’ll partner Shane van Gisbergen in the #9 Ford Falcon.
