Lucas di Grassi final driver confirmed for Gold Coast
Former Formula 1 driver Lucas di Grassi has been confirmed as the co-driver for Jonathon Webb in the Tekno Autosport Ford Falcon for this year’s Gold Coast 600 at Surfers Paradise in October.
Di Grassi drove for the Virgin Racing Team in their debut season last year and is now the official tester for Pirelli in their return to F1 this year, having been absent from the sport for 20 years.
Last year, Webb was partnered by another former Formula 1 driver and Surfers Paradise expert Sébastien Bourdais, when the car was run as part of the Dick Johnson Racing operation. Bourdais’s performance caught the interest of Triple Eight, who’ve signed him up to join Craig Lowndes for this year.
“It’s a real privilege to be asked to join the high calibre of drivers taking part at this year’s event,” said di Grassi.
“It’s sure to be a special meeting and I can’t wait to take on the Surfers Paradise track.”
“I expect the weekend to be very entertaining and exciting and I’m focussed on coming to the Gold Coast to help Jonathon and the MOTHER Energy Team get the best possible result.”
