Andrew Jordan narrowly misses out on Bathurst drive

British Touring Car Championship driver Andrew Jordan just missed out on a chance to be only BTCC driver represented at this year’s Bathurst 1000km racer after losing out to 17-year-old Australian Cameron Waters in a reality TV show final.

The prize drive in a fifth Holden Commodore VE II run by Kelly Racing and co-driven by former V8 Supercar driver turned TV presenter Grant Denyer was awarded to the 17-year-old Cameron Waters from Mildura, Victoria as the final episode of the Shannons Supercar Showdown aired today.

10 drivers had fought for the opportunity to race at the prestigious Australian touring car event, with Andrew Jordan making it to the final heat against Waters.

Waters’ selection means just two non-Australasian drivers will be represented at this year’s Bathurst 1000, with Dane Allan Simonsen racing with Greg Murphy for Kelly Racing and Northern Irishman Richard Lyons paired with Jonathon Webb at Tekno Autosports.
