Jamie Whincup fastest in Bathurst warm-up
Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Jamie Whincup was fastest in the red flagged 20 minute warm-up session, which was stopped after a crash at Forrest’s Elbow for Michael Patrizi in the Triple F Ford Falcon.
Whincup’s best lap of 2:08.183 saw him top the warm-up ahead of today’s 1000km race, with Garth Tander second fastest in the Holden Racing Team Commodore.
There were dramas for the No.7 Kelly Racing Commodore of Todd Kelly which stopped on circuit with apparent engine issues but managed to return to the pits, with the Walkinshaw Racing Holden of Fabian Coulthard also slipping off into the gravel trap late in the session.
The session was red flagged with two minutes to go after Michael Patrizi hit the wall at Forrest’s Elbow in the Triple F Ford Falcon, but the car should be able to be repaired before the start of the race in just under two hours time.
