Gil de Ferran replaces Lucas di Grassi for Gold Coast

In a last minute switch, former IndyCar Champion Gil de Ferran has been called up to race the No.19 Tekno Autosports Ford Falcon at the Gold Coast 600, taking over from former Formula 1 driver Lucas di Grassi.

IndyCar veteran and American Le Mans Series sportscar star Gil de Ferran will replace countryman Lucas di Grassi at Tekno Autosports for this year’s Gold Coast 600, sharing the team’s Ford Falcon FG with regular driver Jonathon Webb.

de Ferran will get his first test of a V8 Supercar this Wednesday at Queensland Raceway.

“I have always enjoyed Surfers Paradise, it was the scene of my last championship victory and I will enjoy catching up and racing with a load of friends and feeling the adrenalin again,” said de Ferran.

“There is a great mix of drivers here from a range of backgrounds so the racing should be brilliant. I am looking forward the challenge and currently getting myself physically prepared.”
