Davison secures triple victory for FPR at Perth

FPR Ford had a perfect weekend at Perth with three victories as Will Davison won the third and final race of the weekend ahead of team mate Mark Winterbottom.

The victory was hard fought as both Winterbottom and championship leader Jamie Whincup put hard pressure on Davison.

Whincup held pole position and pulled up a lead in the first part of the race. But things were turned around as the safety car was brought out due to an incident between Taz Douglas and Tony D’Alberto. As the safety car was brought in, Davison made his way in to the lead, past Whincup and Winterbottom, thanks to being on soft tyres.

And just as in the previous race, Whincup and Winterbottom with the hard tyres gained on Davison towards the end of the race. Whincup was second with just a few laps to go and tried hard to get past Davison, but was instead passed by Winterbottom on the very last lap.

Jason Bright finished fourth and gained on the leading trio, but was close to two seconds behind. Michael Patrizi came home in fifth with a distanced Craig Lowndes in sixth, close to 15 seconds from the leaders.

Fabian Coulthard, Tim Slade, Michael Caruso and Steven Johnson rounded off the top ten.

Whincup still leads the championship on 1095 points, but with Davison closing in on 1066 points and Winterbottom on 935 in third.
