David Russell confirmed as Murphy’s replacement in Darwin
David Russell will again substitute for Greg Murphy at Kelly Racing this weekend at Darwin, as the New Zealander undergoes back surgery to repair an injury sustained at the Adelaide round.
Russell already filled in for Murphy at Symmons Plains, and will do so again this weekend whilst the car runs in a new livery for sponsors Pepsi Max, inspired by Murphy’s crash helmet design.
“I’ve got a job to do for the Pepsi Max Crew and will grab this second opportunity with both hands,” said Russell.
“The Pepsi Max Crew have a huge activation underway in Darwin and I’ll be doing my absolute best to put the #51 as far up the grid as possible.”
Russell’s only confirmed to be driving the team’s #51 Holden Commodore this weekend, with Kelly Racing’s CEO John Crennan saying “We can expect a series of exciting announcements in the coming weeks for Murphy’s replacements.”
