Whincup quickest in Thursday practice at Bathurst
Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Jamie Whincup has set a time of 2:07.3565 to see him and co-driver Paul Dumbrell finish fastest after Thursday’s three Bathurst 1000 practice sessions. The time was set in the dying minutes of the final session of the day.
Will Davison and his co-driver John McIntyre finished the day in second for Ford Performance Racing. Both Triple Eight Race Engineering Commodores finished in the top three after Thursday practice, with Sandown 500 winners Craig Lowndes and Warren Luff setting the third fastest time of the day.
Finishing in fourth were the Ford Performance Racing pairing of David Reynolds and Dean Canto. Fabian Coulthard and co-driver David Besnard rounded out the top five for Brad Jones Racing with a time of 2:08.1614.
Warren Luff was the fastest of the co-drivers in practice two. The Triple Eight Race Engineering driver set a time of 2:09.1794 to finish at the top of the timesheets at the end of the session, which was for co-drivers only. The session was disrupted by a red flag after Chris Pither made contact with the tyre wall at Griffins Bend. Brad Jones Racing were able to repair the car in time for the final practice session.
The next Bathurst practice session will be held on Friday at 9:40 AEST (0:25 BST).
