All four manufacturers approved for 2013 season

The V8 Supercars organisation has approved all four manfuacturers for the 2013 season after a six-day aerodynamic testing of the Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, Mercedes E63 AMG and Nissan Altima.
“This has been an enormous project which all of the V8 Supercars technical department are very proud of the outcomes,” said V8 Supercars Commission Chairman Mark Skaife.

The testing took place at the Royal Australian Air Force Base East Sale with the purpose to get equal aerodynamic values between the cars.

After more than 4500 kilometers driven, the V8 Supercars organisation announced to have gotten all cars, by adjusting the bodies and aero kits, within 2 kilos of overall downforce and 2 kilos of drag of each other.
“To have all of the 2013 vehicles within 2 kg, which is 0.56%, of total downforce is a remarkable achievement. The results of these tests will facilitate the most fair and equitable competition we have ever seen. I can’t wait to see our new cars on the starting grid at the Clipsal 500 later this month,” said Skaife.

The final specifications and looks of the four cars will be revealed within the next ten days ahead of the season launch test day at Eastern Creek on February the 16th.
“It’s the most exciting season for many years given the four models, 28 brand new V8 Supercars and an entire field built for closer, more exciting racing. This is the culmination of five years of hard work, intensive planning and preparation to have these new cars on the grid as the sport enters the new era,” said V8 Supercar CEO David Malone.
