Ingall to pass Skaife for most number of races

Russell Ingall is going to pass Mark Skaife to second place behind John Bowe on the all-time most number of Australian Touring Car Championship/V8 Supercars races this weeekend.
“Mark is one of the greats of the sport, so there’s no downside to having started more events than a highly regarded multiple champion,” said Ingall.

Ingall, 49 years of age, is going to hit 221 races in this weekend’s Tasmania Microsoft Office 365.
“It’s an honour to be considered in the same company as Mark, but ultimately 221 starts is just a number and I’m more interested in race wins and championships,” said Ingall.

The Holden driver is currently placed fourth in the championship after the opening round in Adelaide, finishing fourth in the second race of that weeekend. Ingall is hoping to stay in the top in this weekend’s races at Symmonds Plains.
“Symmons Plains is one of the least technical circuits, which makes it harder to produce a lap time. It’s a horsepower circuit and the times in qualifying tend to be very close,” said Ingall.

“If we can keep the Supercheap Auto Racing Holden VF Commodore out of trouble and maintain our current fourth place in the championship, we’ll be looking good because my stronger circuits are coming up later in the year.”
