Triple Eight appeal for a stronger penalty for Matt Neal

Triple Eight have appealed against the penalty handed out to Honda Racing Team’s Matt Neal after the end of racing at Silverstone yesterday, believing the three-time champion got off too lightly.

Neal was given an official reprimand and two penalty points for an incident with Sam Tordoff in the final race, which saw the MG driver spin across the track exiting Woodcote after contact between the pair.

The appeal will be heard by MSA stewards at Brands Hatch on Saturday, October 12th.

Motorbase Performance’s Mat Jackson was also penalised for an incident with West Surrey Racing’s Colin Turkington in the final race.

The two made contact across the start/finish straight, and Turkington’s BMW was forced into retirement with broken suspension.

Jackson received a £500 fine and three penalty points on his racing licence.

Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan also received an official reprimand for an incident relating to driving standards in race three.
