Happy Andrew Jordan aims to stay out of trouble

A relaxed Andrew Jordan is aiming to keep his nose clean and tie up a maiden BTCC title as soon as possible on race day at Brands Hatch.

The Eurotech Racing man has a 34 point lead over Honda stable mate Matt Neal, and will start 13 places ahead of him on the grid in tomorrow’s first race.

Jordan was delighted to be top Civic in third, and says he is unconcerned about the threat of bad weather.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes, Jordan said: “It was a good lap with that weight on. I always try and be top Honda, regardless of the weight, so to do that, I am really pleased.

“I don’t really mind either way [about the weather]. I think it is going to be wet, looking at the forecast. It will be the same approach for us as if it was dry.

“I will just try and stay out of trouble and seal it as soon as possible. We just need to see how the start and the first lap play out, and see what happens from there.

“The car was good when it was damp in free practice one, and we were quickest until it started drying out. I think wet or dry, we will be good.”

This time last year, Jordan came to Brands Hatch aiming to tie up the independents’ championship – and he said he plans “not to get too stressed” about his aim to go for the main crown this time around.

He said: “If we win it, great, because obviously that what we all want to do.

“But if for any reason we don’t, and we have some bad luck, then that’s the way it goes.

“Whatever happens tomorrow, we have been the strongest package all year, and I would be surprised if anyone disagreed with that. What will be will be.”
