Greg Ritter confirmed as endurance driver for Volvo
Greg Ritter has been confirmed as endurance driver for Volvo Polestar Racing in the 2014 V8 Supercars.
“We have signed Greg Ritter up, and we will determine over the next couple of months, maybe, because we’ll want to start testing who we take,” said Team Manager Garry Rogers to Speed.
Ritter drove for the team, then named Garry Rogers Motorsport, last year in the endurance races and has driven the new V8 Supercars Volvo S60 in its initial shakedown runs.
The identity of their second endurance driver is yet to be confirmed, but Rogers did not rule out that another Swedish driver might join the team.
“There’s some good local guys around … we won’t choose a driver because he’s Chinese, or an Arab, or whatever, and we won’t choose a driver because he’s got a big bag of dough either. We’ll choose a driver that we know will fit in with our team and give us the best chance of a result, because that’s what we do,” said Rogers.
The endurance drivers takes part in the three Pirtek Enduro Cup races at Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 600 where pitstop driver changes are mandatory.
The first public appearance of the new V8 Supercars Volvo S60 will be at the official test days in Sydney on February 15th.
