Nissan and Volvo in aerodynamic homologation test
The V8 Supercars Nissan Altima and Volvo S60 are set to take part in a three-day aerodynamic homologation test this weekend. The V8 Supercars organisation will also have a Ford Falcon present as reference car.
The test will be held at the Royal Australian Air Force base where the cars will accelerate to 200 km/h and then roll to a halt for measurement of the differences between the cars in order to establish aerodynamic parity. The cars will run a standardized suspension setup in order to have the cars as equal as possible.
Nissan Motorsport criticized the method last year, claiming it to be ”low-tech”, but no changes of the procedure are reported to have been made for this year.
The Nissan Altima has got a new aerokit for this year after the team claimed the 2013 kit to produce more drag compared to its competitors from Ford, Holden and Mercedes.
Erebus Motorsport was invited to take part in the test with the Mercedes E63 AMG, but the team declined the offer.
