Jason Bargwanna new Driving Standards Observer
Experienced V8 Supercars driver Jason Bargwanna has been appointed new Driving Standards Observer (DSO) ahead of the 2014 season.
“I am recent enough, I know all of the circuits and all of the excuses. We have the best 25 drivers in the best cars in the country in what will be the toughest season in years. I am really excited,” said Bargwanna.
Bargwanna’s V8 Supercars experience includes 378 race starts and winning the legendary Bathurst 1000 race.
“If you held me upside down, shook me and picked up all the pieces there would be an enormous amount of information and experience there,” said Bargwanna.
The DSO has an advisory role towards the race director, race officials and stewards regarding penalties during or after races.
“It’s a challenging yet rewarding position that requires the right person with the real-time experience, the right personality, approach and character. Jason has the track record and most importantly the integrity and respect to do a great job,” said V8 Supercars General Manager of Motorsport Damien White.
Bargwanna takes over from Cameron McConville who is joining Porsche as Motorsport Manager.
