Alex Buncombe pleased with Nissan V8 Supercars test
British driver Alex Buncombe took part in the V8 Supercars official test day at Sydney Motorsport Park with Nissan.
“It was fantastic, I can’t stop smiling,” said Buncombe.
Buncombe comes from European GT racing, clinching the Blancpain Endurance Series GT4 title in 2011 with Nissan, and made his Australian racing debut in Bathurst 12 Hours last weekend, driving a Nissan GT-R.
“It’s certainly hard to get used to, considering my background in European racing, but I think with a few more laps I’d be on the pace,” said Buncombe.
The 32-year-old got to test Todd Kelly’s Nissan Altima and was left with a taste for more.
”The test with Nissan Motorsport was a great experience. Although I only had a couple of runs at it, I did a stint on wet tyres and some laps on slicks, so it gave me a good idea of what these cars are about,” said Buncombe.
“This has really wheat my appetite for some more V8 Supercars racing. I really want to come back and do Bathurst again, whether that’s in the Altimas or the GT-R (for the 12 Hour).”
