Oliver Gavin to Walkinshaw Racing for endurance races
British GT driver Oliver Gavin has been signed by Walkinshaw Racing to take part in the three endurance races of the 2014 V8 Supercars.
“Racing in the Bathurst 1000 means a huge amount; when I was growing up, it was on the BBC,” said Gavin.
Gavin raced in the 12 hours of Bathurst this year but admits that the V8 Supercars race there will be completely different.
“The GT car had ABS and traction control but the V8 doesn’t have any driver aids, so I imagine it will be pretty lively over the top,” said Gavin.
The former Le Mans 24 Hours class winner is going to drive together with Nick Percat in the Heavy Haulage Australia/Coates Hire Holden Commodore and will get his first taste of the car at Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday.
